Riva for Veuve Clicquot

published in: Design By Costas Voyatzis, 19 June 2008

This is the latest in a string of interesting design collaborations with the likes of Andrew Putman, Christian Schwamkrug of Porsche Design Studio, Pablo Reinoso, Pucci, Karim Rashid and Jason Bruges

Riva was behind the iconic boats of the 60’s and the golden age of the Dolce Vita lifestyle...and continues to make some of the most beautiful boats in the world today.

The design collaboration with Riva is for Veuve Clicquot's top champagne (prestige cuvee) called La Grande Dame, and includes 2 different pieces, The Cruise Collection and The Cruiser Bag

La Grande Dame by Riva

He wanted to build boats that no-one had built before. She wanted a conquer Europe with her Champagne wines. Barbe Nicole Ponsardin and Pietro Riva were seperated in history by just a few short years; two people with the same credo: Being the best

Collector's pieces of innate sophistication, elegance and glamour-LaGrande Dame encapsulates the Veuve Clicquot style, while Riva's vintage Runabouts gleam with the magic of major boating events.

The Cruise Collection | The Cruiser Bag

This collector's piece combines all facets of the Riva universe with the legent of La Grande Dame. Eminently portable, with its flutes and its bottle of La Grande Dame, the Cruiser Bag would be the ideal guest at a smart picnic on board an Aquarama or beside a swimming pool on a summer evening.

The pure lines and gentle curves of the sophisticated cruiser bag are a miniature reminder of the yacht that inspired its creation: black lacquer with mahogany inlay, chroime detailing and leather trim...A little piece of heaven to carry around with you.

The Cruise collection :a "made to measure" piece and costs $80,000 - comes with 4 bottles of La Grande Dame 98, 2 magnums of La Grande Dame 88, 6 champagne flutes Riedel and 6 water tumblers, plates, table mats and cutlery.

The Cruiser Bag: Limited Edition piece (only 300 pieces available) - includes a bottle of La Grande Dame 98 and two champagne flutes. Available from July and costs $425

About Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is both a champagne house in Reims, France, and a brand of premium champagne. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, Veuve Clicquot played an important role in establishing champagne as a favored drink of haute bourgeoisie and nobility throughout Europe. The 1811 comet vintage of Veuve Clicquot is theorized to have been the first truly "modern" Champagne due to the advancements in the méthode champenoise which Veuve Clicquot pioneered through the technique of remuage.
