Dupli.Casa - House near Ludwigsburg, Germany by J. MAYER H. Architects

The geometry of the building is based on the footprint of the house that previously was located on the site. Originally built in 1984 and with many extensions and modifications since then, the new building echoes the „family archaeology“ by duplication and rotation. Lifted up, it creates a semi-public space on ground level between two layers of discretion. The skin of the villa performs a sophisticated connection between inside and outside and offers spectacular views onto the old town of Marbach and the German national literature archive on the other side of the Neckar valley.

Jürgen Mayer H. is founder and principal of this crossdisciplinairy studio. He studied at Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and at Princeton Universtiy. His work was published and exhibited worldwide and is part of international collections like the MoMA New York and SF MoMA. His work was awarded with numerous prizes, i.e. the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Award 2003 Emerging Architect and Winner Holcim Awards 2005 Bronze Europe for Metropol Parasol. Jürgen Mayer H. tought at Princeton University, University of the Arts Berlin, Harvard University, Kunsthochschule Berlin, the Architectural Association in London and is currently teaching at Columbia University in New York.

Below you will see  what J. MAYER H. Architects did to the house of the picture above! What a change!!!!!

I would love to live in this house! The flow of space just inspires so many possibilities for personalizing and living...

this comments (below/above) just shows how most people today aren't ready for real architecture, they don't seem to envision or understand the concepts of a new way of life, ...less emotion and more reason seems to be the case for Mayer's approach in this design. however commom people can't relate to that quite yet. I do believe that architecture shouldn't make us feel more or less about world, instead architecture shouldn't be in our way in this decision, humans should not be influenced by "constructed" spaces, they should be less vulnerable of exterior influences and more certain of interior influences. EVERYBODY IN THIS SMALL PLANET WOULD GAIN FROM THIS FUNDAMENTAL ASPECT OF HUMAN NATURE. WHITE IS THE BEGINING TO ALL!

where are the toys, the mess, the half eaten yoghourt on the table, the newspaper wrapped on the floor? is that a home, not even a house? is it a museum, a gallery, a motherfucker? aaah, but it is all so pretty so white sooo NAZI please, architect in charge: humans are much more complex than 'that' you constructed.

yes, so empty and cold. If only had more furniture, more decoration, a touch of colour. I love the luminosity of the place and the shapes, but this is extremaly minimalist. Not my style

when I first saw this I thought is a 3D rendering. it seems it's very real and I very like it.

Definitely it's a beautiful concept, and yet at the same time the whole idea of it being a 'splash' of white material, not blending with the natural surroundings gives one pause. Like something that at any moment can blast off out into the sky.
