Pixel Bulb

Marcus Tremonto, a usual Yatzer suspect as his work has been featured various times in our site, strikes back at London Design festival (19-27 September) and this time it’s double pleasure. On one hand, furthering his use of light as material and form, he presents "Looplight" at Fumi Gallery, which is expanded from the Paper-Landscape series first exhibited in Milan this year for the Salone de Mobile. Looplight incorporates electroluminescent electronic paper as the light source, while celebrating the simplicity of the material. It is also an exploration in the combination of perceived 2D and actual volumetric form, furthering the engaging quality of illusion.

On the other hand, Tremonto has designed a new collection for pop up gallery The Apartment at Ledbury Road, which runs through October 5th. His new work gives a new meaning to words like pixel art and black light and leaves us with the desire to see it with our own eyes. The pixel bulb looks like being heavily crushed in a video game car accident, absolutely surreal. The shadow bulb proves the black is the new… white and vakpak seems to be conceived as the ideal shopping bag in case super markets were open at night! The ones visiting London Design festival this year simply can’t miss it.
