Kacper Hamilton  design
These red wine glasses are based on the 7 deadly sins. Each glass encapsulates a sin, which is revealed through the ritual of drinking. The ‘7 Deadly Glasses’ are about celebrating passion and encouraging the user to be sinful in a theatrical fashion.

  • friend
    Seth | 2008-06-11 20:06:41

"kelsey how does the envy glass even work" It doesn't, that's the point, you're envious of everyone else being able to enjoy their wine.

  • friend
    jj | 2008-06-11 23:27:59

Quite obviously they are not designed for practicality. If you'll notice, envy has holes in it, therefore rendering it unusable. They are pieces of art.

  • friend
    Andri | 2008-06-12 16:31:22

The Envy glass is my absolute favorite!! It really captures the way envy works; always focusing on what you don't have and being unable to anyoy any of whay you do have.

  • friend
    Etna | 2008-06-12 19:49:26

These are creative, but I agree that they're a little on the tacky side. Or maybe it's just the models that look tacky.

  • friend
    Kev | 2008-06-12 20:52:33

They're all impractical and most will ensure that you end up wearing instead of drinking your wine. These glasses are clearly designed for collection and a discussion piece for the wine connaisseur who has everything. Can you imagine trying to wash dried wine reside out of the "tentacles" of Greed? Good luck with that one.

I love the concept... pride tall and proud.. wrath was awesome hell you can poke an eye out with the glass alone, gluttony big glass, greed the glass has out lets for more more and more!!! envy you want what you just can't have, sloth very cool.. to lazy totally get it.... but Lust??? that one please explain... I love the set it's definitely a conversation starter.. not to use just to display.. I love them get it except for lust... please explain.. anyone???

  • friend
    Jack | 2008-06-15 09:00:46

Absolutely Awesome. They really encapsulate their respective sins, especially the envy one. Never gonna' have enough, I love it. And to those who think they're useless or dumb, you're missing the point. It's art; art isn't practical (it can be, but practical ain't part o' the definition).

  • friend
    Dan | 2008-07-03 08:42:44

wow, those are so cool. i really see how you have to try to drink out of one to feel the feeling. like, with greed you would drink all the wine and then try your hardest to get the wine out of the horns so you can drink that too. i bet the gluttony one makes it hard to drink out of, like i bet the wine sloshes around in there and would most likely spill out onto your gut. very cool.

  • friend
    ramblinrose | 2008-07-04 17:51:30

envy and greed are so cool...envy of course means you envy something you can't/don't have...so in this case no wine...unless you act jealously then wine is all over you...greed of course all those little horns tugging/stealing/implying "there is never enough wine!" as for practical why? when being creative and artistic practical it is NOT a requirement. These are full of whimsy and delight and fun and creativity and smarts! Good stuff and a great way to represent sin...

We’re no strangers to love, You know the rules and so do I. A full commitment’s what I’m thinking of, You wouldnt get this from any other guy. I just wanna tell you how I’m feeling, Gotta make you understand… Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. We’ve known each other for so long Your heart’s been aching But you’re too shy to say it. Inside we both know what’s been going on, We know the game and we’re gonna play it. Annnnnd if you ask me how I’m feeling, Don’t tell me you’re too blind to see… Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you. Lust is like a ball point pen where the wine is corked by a glass ball, requiring someone to lick it or put their mouth around it to get a drink. kind of like a hamster's water

kelsey: I beleive the idea of the ENVY glass is to represent the envy that he has for the people holding the other glasses... As he cannot drink from his so he is envius of them! -lexxis

Stumble! w00t! Anywho, these are some of the most unique pieces of art I've ever seen. Interesting. They represent each of the deadly sins quite well. It took me a little while to understand the "Lust" one. But I got it when I realized that was a ball in the bottom. Haha. If anyone read this comment, wo hoo! :D Congrats. I love you for reading this. Just kidding. ^3^ mwah!

  • friend
    weet! | 2008-08-19 01:00:33

the lust one works kind of like a deodorant roller, so youd have to lick it off to spin the ball thing at the end to get the liquid. kind of weird though because you wont really get a whole lot of liquid out that way, if any.

  • friend
    rob | 2008-08-27 05:50:23

http://www.kacperhamilton.com/Kacper_Hamilton/Home.html is the site. They are made to order, and priced when you buy. Presumably this is so you can order extra deadly sins if you like. Like the eighth deadly sin: Saying your mom jokes, or the Eleventh Deadly Sin: Flaming people on the internet... I am amused by the people who say they are not marketable. I guess they dont get out (of the box) much.

interesting designs and effective expressions of each abstract concept, but greed and gluttony are the same sin, the 7th is vanity, I'd have liked to see that one

  • friend
    Catweb | 2009-12-16 21:56:39

Greed and Gluttony are not the same sin. Gluttony deals with food and wanting more of something than you really need. Greed deals with refusing to give up things that you don't need such as money.

  • friend
    Catweb | 2009-12-16 22:02:36

Vanity and Pride are the same sin.

  • friend
    j | 2009-12-19 09:14:24

no there not. vanity is a love of your own appearance, while pride is a boastfulness towards your own deeds. if ur confused just wikipedia the 7 deadly sins. and may i say very nice designs in both form and function.

  • friend
    jeholowe | 2009-12-22 18:11:17

  • friend
    Catweb | 2009-12-22 20:57:38

Well if YOU are confused you can recheck Wikipedia. It puts vainglory (vanity) into the sin Pride. Hence, they are the same sin. There is a section of Wikipedia that lists 11 deadly sins in which vainglory and pride are separated but if you condense them into 7 they are the same sin.
