Schindlersalmerón is a company for furniture design and distribution located in Zurich.Their projects are compositions of sustainable materials to which a contemporary expression is added by respecting today's needs and applying today's process technology.

Christoph Schindler (Erlangen, Germany 1973) studied architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern and gained experience in architects' practices in Germany, the USA and the Netherlands. Between 2001 and 2007 he researched at Ludger Hovestadt's Chair of CAAD at ETH Zurich the effect of computer-aided production on wood construction and co-founded on these insights the company designtoproduction. From 2008 on, he focuses on schindlersalmerón, investigating the interdependencies of material constraints, process technology and form.

Margarita Salmerón Espinosa (Valencia, Spain 1971) studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Between 1998 and 2004 she worked as an architect in MVRDV in Rotterdam, Meili Peter in Zurich and Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. Since 2006 she is a professor for 3-dimensional design at the School of Architecture at the Hochschule für Technik Zurich.

Flankenschnittstuhl F/01 (2008)
This wooden chair’s elegant shape masks contemporary technology: the twisted hind legs demonstrate the five-axis flank milling of a CNC-router.

Aluminium Hocker (2008)
The light and stackable aluminium stool is assembled from three identical aluminium sheets that stabilize each other through spatial folding.

Tischgestell (2006)
A table frame that consists of two frames connected with an articulated joint, stabilizing each other in the folded-out position.

Kleiderleiste (2005)
A coatrack that is producible in any length.The parametric drawing, in combination with laser cutting technology, allows customized products at a mass-production price.
material: brushed stainless steel
size: customized length from 40 up to 285 cm, height 8 cm, depth 5 cm

Zipshape Research Project
‹Zipshape› is a universal method that makes it possible to fabricate single curved panels from any plain material without molds. It consists of two individually slotted panels that interlock when bent to the predefined curvature.
