HEX TEnnis collection by Hugh Hayden

We at Yatzer know that some tennis activity is the best way to lose those vacation kilos. It seems that we are no the only ones to get inspired by tennis paraphernalia, since Brooklyn based designer Hugh Hayden has a special interest for tennis balls. This was his source of inspiration for a recent collection of limited edition furniture completely constructed of recycled tennis balls.

The collection entitled HEX TEnnis is composed of a chair, coffee table, and a pouf. Due to Hugh, the 3D woven construction of the chair combined with the unit of the tennis ball creates a very ergonomic experience that reinterprets the geometry of the body for each user. But Hugh didn’t stop there. As an artist, he is also involved in parallel activities and one of those was the recently created spatial installations in New York City to celebrate this year's US Open.  At the Nolita boutique of womenswear by designer Hayden-Harnett, he created Spills, where the designer's signature handbags have been suspended throughout the space spilling both tennis and ballpit balls in order to form chairs and amorphous piles, with some even spilling on to the street. Finally, at the Little Cupcake Bakeshop in Brooklyn he created a raining cloud of tennis ball cupcakes, where recycled tennis balls function as the "cake" raining into muffin tins throughout the space and beyond the window.  Hugh’s work makes us wanna scream, paraphrasing the famous hit, its raining balls, alleluia!
