Coffee culture has officially hit China, as young urbanites all across the country embrace the lure of enjoying a caffeine infused beverage in stylish surroundings. That said, none are more stylish than Coordination Asia’s creation for Gaga, the  latest deli and eatery in Shenzhen, designed to really wow even the most discerning clientele. This isn't a place that you just pop into to grab a quick caffeine shot, because once inside, this stunning new interior will mesmerise you into enjoying the buzz that comes from both the caffeine and the incredible surroundings.

With its unique design, Coordination Asia has created a new space for Gaga that uses their chic existing colour scheme within a fresh innovative design where indoor and outdoor areas flow into one another and the seating and decking areas are simply divided (a word used in its loosest sense in this case as the space simply flows) by huge glass panes that blur the lines between its indoor and outdoor spaces. During the day, the vast glass frontage allows for a real sense of space as light floods in. Simple and sumptuous with cushioned seating in organic textiles, together with its striking lighting installation, the space feels truly magical come night.

The layout of Coordination Asia's design for Gaga is fundamental to relaxing in, with the seating on the wide patio at the front replicated in the interior. In the back, the large impressive marble counter backed with contrasting wooden paneling, ensures that every step of experiencing this eatery, from entering to ordering, to not wanting to leave, is enjoyable and memorable. Cushioned seating areas and a variety of other carefully chosen seating options in varying shapes and sizes, from modern chairs to stools that look like tree stumps make it impossible not to want to languish and take in the coffee and surroundings. Whether alone, with a friend or a large group, this is the perfect place to unwind.

The concept behind the design, 'blurring thresholds', is epitomized in the custom made ceiling installation of lamellas which create a magical light as cozy and romantic as a rural night sky, offering the clientele a glimpse of the missing stars usually hidden by the city lights outside. The use of the highest quality materials and a neutral scheme offer a sense of quality and luxury; painted brick walls and an abundance of stripped wood are subtle and add an organic feeling overall.  Along with the lighting, the shelves and panels are a real focal point as they stretch across the space adding a sense of space and fluidity that is urban and sculptural, making for a bold design statement.

China is embracing coffee culture head on and it's no surprise with designs as incredible as this one for Gaga. Coordination Asia has created a destination that is sure to attract coffee lovers from the city, wider China and the world. Now that’s a pick me up.
