Hotel Aire de Bardenas in Spain

Beautiful hotel designed by Monica Rivera and Emiliano Lopez. All on one floor it has 20 rooms, 4 suites, pool, bar and restaurant. Set inside the Bardenas Reales National Park (a biosphere reserve) its surrounding landscape means that every viewpoint is amazing.

The architecture and design are generally very good and understated in that they do not attempt to overpower or exclude the natural surroundings. The passages do not work at all and look too institutional, like hospital or mortuary corridors. Since there is no view to compete with they could be painted in a very bright and shocking colour like pink, orange or lime green.

I too think it looks a bit inhuman and desolate. Maybe this was the approach of the design team? I dont mind the idea of going somewhere that is an escape from humanity and civilization. That said its a pretty cushy way to approach it if this is your chosen destination.

Look horribly desolate. Nice in photos but I think it is actually a design disaster. I can feel the wind from here. The whole thing is cold and inhuman.

I wonder if anyone stays in this hotel. It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere..
