Guest Contribution by Pascal Panagiotidis

Who doesn't remember James Bowler & Samuel Wright, the two young design graduates of Nottingham Trent University at their first Yatzer presentation who joined their forces with aim to provide a fresh look in the contemporary products design. Now they are here again with new projects and even fresher ideas. & then design is back.

The first collaboration of the designers was named "& here we go..." followed by the second one known as "& again...". Both collections were a blend of the two designers' distinctive styles, a recipe that lead James and Samuel to success and recognition. James' insight and knowledge mixed with Samuels' aesthetic touch manage to evoke positive emotions through their projects. In order to develop new products & then design is open to new collaborations with furniture manufactures in the future.

Yatzer invites you to enjoy some of their newest pieces that will be on view for the first time during 100% Design in London ( 24-27 September 2009)

Oliver is a Scandinavian inspired lounge chair. Using a range of different woodworking techniques, it offers comfort, nostalgia and personality to any living space. The frame can be made in a range of different natural woods such as beech, oak and Indian rosewood. The upholstery too can be f inished in a range of different colours and also in leather.

TILLY
Tilly is a quirky sofa that offers both luxury and character. The sofa is a blend of both the classic and the modern. The form and buttoned upholstery may stem from traditional roots yet the use of bold colour buttons and their arrangement ensure the product stays
contemporary. Blending this with the unique powder coated steel base and the sprung backrest ensures that Tilly will become a much loved and durable piece of furniture.

TURN TABLE
A modern twist on a classic style. Turn table offers a sophisticated dining or side table that is full of character. The tops and their pattern is made by water jet cutting aluminium and then powder coating in a range of RAL colors. The legs are made from one solid piece of oak which is turned and then split into 4 identical pieces.

LEIGH
The Leigh range, consisting of a coffee table, side table and dresser, has been inspired by the shaker style of the late 18th century. Named after the movement's founder, the range of cabinets is extremely traditional in both style and manufacture. Each piece offers various storage solutions. Be it drawers, side opening doors and drop down panels. The frame is assembled using solid oak. The exterior panels are then laminated using matt colored formica.

POISE

The illuminated head unit can be tilted at various angles to suite the desired task. Once the angle of the light has been defined the height can be adjusted separately; levelling arms ensuring the illuminated head’s angle is consistent.

HOT LIGHT
Top hat is a statement piece relating to British eccentricity and pride in a British Practice. The idea evokes the audience in contemplating why..... the answer being exactly that, to get a response - to design a product that has a functional use whilst being playful at the same time. It has been created using a traditional felt hand made hat sitting on a powder coated tripod.
