Although fit for a King, there’s nothing outdated about the King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens. Located in the heart of the city, the property offers a variety of ways to spoil yourself, not to mention the most indulgent interiors in town. Delicate antique furniture, regal chandeliers and raw silk upholstery are the order of the day, although there’s still room for surprise, evident from the David Bowie portrait by Joe Black, entirely made of test tubes in the front lobby! The King George shares the gym and spa facilities with sister Hotel Grande Bretagne next door, but has kept the magnificent, award-winning Tudor Hall Restaurant all to itself. Νo need to wait for dinner to enjoy the unobstructed Acropolis view!

Τhe fantastic breakfast spread, with freshly turned out omelets and the best pancakes in town, will take you straight up to the 7th floor, where you are most likely to return again and again. The 102 rooms and suites have been recently redeveloped, along with the rest of the property, and despite the marble floors and intricate balustrades, there’s something decidedly intimate about the King George. Prepare to be greeted by name if you stay for more than a few days in a row and don’t be surprised if you feel a pang of nostalgia as you part ways with the bellhop. The exceptionally helpful staff really knows how to transform a five-star hotel into your home away from home.
