Interior innovation award cologne 2008 - best system - for LAVA

Prizes galore for LAVA: Now an established institution in the programme of imm cologne, the "interior innovation award cologne" is awarded to outstanding new developments. The partner and organiser of the competition is the German Design Council, the German centre of excellence for design, which also presents the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, among other things. Some 400 companies competed with their innovations for a place in this year's interior innovation award. The winners were selected by an international jury of experts. LAVA, the seat-lounge-recliner furniture from COR, design: Studio Vertijet, Kirsten Antje Hoppe + Steffen Kroll, came first in the category "Best System".

The Swiss home design magazine RAUM und WOHNEN also honoured LAVA with a prize: the "Furniture of the Year 2007" award.

On 15 January, editor-in-chief Walter Lehmann presented the award to the designer couple and COR managing director Leo Lübke.

A work of art and an item of sitting or reclining lounge furniture at the same time: the concept of Lava is as diverse as its uses. Amorphous, flowing forms invite you to relax in different sitting and reclining positions on several levels. The vertical variance reaches down to the floor: soft, upholstered mats transform even this surface into part of the furniture. Further, constantly new forms and figures emerge by moving the backrests horizontally. Lava is furniture, landscape and sculpture. Unusual in its uses, unique in its design.
