Providence by Matthias Pliessnig was conceived around the notion of building a landscape for people to interact with. This notion developed into a form that morphs from an upright seating form to a lounging area. The flow of the piece and the intervals of spacing make Providence a very comfortable structure. With Embrasure, wanted to experiment with flexible joints to see if I could create a hammock effect. Each joint is joined with hand-hammered copper rivets. The strips that make up the form are more sporadic as they swirl around to show the geometry of the curves. Both pieces evoke a sense of landscape through their own language.
