Kyrios is a perfect gentleman. Dapper and deadly serious, there’s a sardonic smile hiding behind his well-groomed moustache, but you wouldn’t know it. He has a predilection for perfectly cut three-piece suits and he refuses to go out without a hat. He eats with gusto, sips his drinks with aplomb and has zero tolerance for mediocrity. His house is a time warp and, try as he might, he can never quite tame his eccentricity. He loves a well-stuffed bird, whether it’s served with orange sauce or mounted on the wall. In case you’re still wandering, Kyrios (Greek for sir) is actually a fictional character and this bar is his imaginary home. It’s the kind of place where the servers are required to wear leather aprons and made-to-measure shirts, imparting a sense of aristocracy with an unmistakable hint of kink.

The masculine interior was in fact designed by a Lady, celebrity photographer Mara Desipris, whose flamboyant style is well documented throughout: art deco light fixtures discreetly illuminate curiosity cabinets and jumble sale chinoiserie is offset by oriental, hand-painted wallpapers. Built around the concept of contemporary aristocracy, Kyrios certainly knows how to deliver on his promise. Everything you’ll eat or drink in his not-so-humble abode is made to perfection, offering a menu of elevated classics you’ll find yourself craving again and again. The croque monsieur is a crispy slice of heaven, the Caesar’s salad is tossed with the original anchovy dressing and their own version of a Dry Martini comes with caper brine and botarga. Don’t forget to book a table for Sunday brunch or treat yourself to a live Jazz Monday – or both! Kyrios is always good company, so you’ll have an equally fabulous time if you arrive solo or spend the evening with friends. His (dark blue) door is always open!
