Once you’ve discovered the semi-clandestine entrance, this nouveau tavern’s winding, wooden staircase will lead you up to a veritable haven of Mani flavors - a small peninsula in the Peloponnese with a big culinary reputation. Although discreetly veering towards the sophisticated, this is a genuinely family-friendly location that has successfully managed to lodge itself in the heart of the locals, as well as build quite the reputation as a failsafe traveller’s choice. Its proximity to the Acropolis and a prominent place in The New York Times’ “36 Hours in Athens” feature might have something to do with it, but with 11 years under its belt, this cozy little spot has certainly earned its stripes.

Several notches above the average man’s impression of a Greek taverna, MANHMANH still manages to feel familiar, serving elevated comfort food with a penchant for strong, earthy flavors. Lunch crowds get an extra bonus with a ½ portion, ½ price option until 6pm, which ups your chances of tasting every single thing on the menu, but no matter what you do, MANHMANH still won’t break the bank. And it will always, always, feel like home…
