Chudy and Grase

Nils Chudy and Jasmina Grase started working side by side while studying at the Design Academy Eindhoven (NL), practicing conceptual thinking and “hands on” labor, in order to realize their ideas. Four years later, and only a couple of months after their graduation in 2014, they won the “Time To Design” new talent award and launched Studio Chudy And Grase in Denmark. The philosophy behind their collaboration is that their two strengths are combined to design for those in quest of typical things that are made differently.

Nils is German and has previously had internships in the field of photography in Berlin and product design in Copenhagen. Jasmina was born in Latvia into a family of artists, and is also educated as an interior and graphic designer. However, they call themselves children of Europe since they are not physically attached to any location, but hope to take the best of each corner of the continent and reflect it in their designs.

“We design to create everyday furniture and products with little moments of discovery by going back to zero and looking all around us. Our inspiration comes from looking into other fields, such as new materials, techniques and methods, but also art, biology and physics”, the design duo states. The results of this research are implemented in their projects: they not only design the shell around a product, but also rethink it from the beginning.
