When it comes to food preparation and serving there is a huge variety of different kitchen tools and gadgets. However only few of them manage to transform a daily and perhaps boring task into a creativity exercise. Awarded as Best Cooks Kit by Wallpaper magazine in Design Awards 2010, Basic Series by StokkeAustad & Frost Product comes to fill the gap between functionality and design in kitchen equipment. The kit consists of a potato/mushroom brush, a masher, a serving spoon/spatula, a trivet, stackable candleholders and also some glass kitchen utensils like a water carafe, a wine decanter and wine old fashioned glasses. Basic series reflects the philosophy behind the firm's projects according to which "value is created through design". Functionary and cost-efficiency are the keys for any project design whilst durability and quality make sure the product's long life in daily use.

Culinary art requires a selection, measurement and combining of ingredients in an effort to achieve the desired result.  Success implies not only the skills of the individual cooking but also the tools used during the process. Basic series Cooks Kit's contribution is not focused only in the food preparation as a simple task but also in the stimulation of creativity during the process; a process referring to the creative preparation and food serving as one of the most transient art forms.

The glass series design is characterized by straight lines combined with smooth curves. The smooth cone form opening of the carafe and decanter helps to easily pour water or wine into them.  The large neck on the other hand serves as a handle pointing out the object's functionality. A big cork made of turned oak combined with the glass body adds attractive touch and gives extra elegance and warmth.
