Well, we had enough of concept stores that look like no concept inventions. We had enough of new hot spots claiming that traditional neighborhoods are no longer fancy. And we certainly had enough of ordinary design shops that hide absolutely no surprises. That’s why we love TR2, a new arrival for the curious people that like it, let’s say, a little bit more complicated than the usual.
TR2 is a new space in Athens, Greece, that is flirting with a variety of different things, giving the impression of a fairy tale cave where bespoke wallpaper mix with vintage silver cutlery, sur mesure pants in the craziest colors with hard to find cosmetics and edgy design objects with fashion accessories, the majority designed by proud owner Georgios C. Carabellas. There is a certain mix and match philosophy behind TR2 and everything, from the music to the lighting, has a familiar yet surprising touch. All TR2’s small treasures are placed in a nuclear white background, with the effect that colors and juxtapositions between materials and styles seem even more appealing. The final result reflects in the best way Carabellas’ extrovert personality since he has given something of his exuberant touch to almost everything. Let’s take a closer look…
Georgios C. Carabellas has a very interesting life story behind him, having tried almost everything, from theatre and event organizing to journalism, marketing and advertising. There is a special fascination for the unfamiliar in him, thing that triggers constantly his creativity. He is a definitely promising designer and creative director that always puts all of his passion to the things that he loves. After having created his own brand of bespoke wallpaper called “A je ne sais quoi” (so beautiful that some of his clients even frame them) and a series of sous plats and sous verres inspired by old photos of Athens called “Circa 1920”, he thought that it would be a good idea to create a space that would fit all of his obsessions.
TR2 begun from the necessity to mix without prejudice everything Georgios C. Carabellas considers inspiring and that’s why he even dared to design leather accessories made of python, unusual marble lamps or some very particular tableware inspired by the crest of his own family!
Carabellas takes care of all the details of the products, every single color and every single material, from the pants to the lamps. His number one priority is the satisfaction of the customer who is treated in a very special way; that’s why TR2 offers a perfect after sale service. Open only every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00 and during weekdays by appointment, TR2 (that stands for thissionrevisited2) functions more like a gallery than an ordinary shop. Last but not least, it is situated in one of the most magnificent neighborhoods of Athens, Thission, which is always a pleasant experience to re-discover.
Do not hesitate when you visit TR2 to have a long chat with Georgios and let his enthusiasm guide you.
A Yatzer secret: If you are good with him he can even offer you some homemade chocolate cake. What more could you possibly ask for?
