Beyond Selfies: iPhone Photography Awards Announces its Winners for 2014

While some may lament the impact smartphones have had on photography (with complaints ranging from the bad quality images produced through to the superficial approach to an otherwise complex craft), others have decided to approach the issue from a completely different angle; by looking for the very best of phone photography out there. An example is the iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS), the first and longest-running iPhone photography competition, which since 2007 has been presenting high-quality photography taken albeit only with an iPhone, iPad or iPod. With entry fees starting at $3 and the only rule being that the images cannot have gone through any editing via the use of a computer (using iPhone apps however is OK), the IPPAWARDS prove that everyday people, as well as professional photographers, can indeed produce beautiful and engaging images.
