The Ideal Portable House By ÁBATON Architects

Words by Yatzer

Architectural firm ÁBATON has made the dream of owning a secluded hideaway remarkably accessible with its ÁPH80 series, prefabricated small homes that can be transported by road and placed almost anywhere. Ideal as forest cabins or private retreats, these minimalist dwellings retain the proportions of a larger house, offering a surprising sense of spaciousness and comfort within just 27 square meters.

Thoughtfully designed, each unit accommodates a living room with a kitchen area, a fully equipped bathroom, and a double bedroom. Large front-facing windows blur the boundary between inside and out, encouraging residents to extend their living space into the surrounding environment.

Despite their solid appearance, the structures are lighter than they seem. Constructed with solid timber for both the frame and interior surfaces, the exterior is clad in grey cement-wood boards that also serve as window shutters. When closed, the panels seal the home entirely, transforming it into a monolithic, sculptural volume.
