Sophie Deloudi who recently left behind her career in design spanning some twenty years to follow her real passion, is one of the most elegant, honest and charismatic Greek women I know and has been one of my style-icons ever since I first met her in person during my former job as a stylist for Maison & Decoration magazine. A fashion design graduate of the Istituto Marangoni, after completing her studies in Milan, Sophie came back to Athens to take over the helm of the family business, the 'Deloudis Objet' design store in the upmarket Kolonaki district, then a meeting point for architects, interior designers and anyone with a high sense of the aesthetic.
Hugely successful in its day, the financial crisis in Greece was to change everything, leading to her decision to close the store. However, as the endearingly optimistic saying indeed goes, ‘every cloud has a silver lining’. The crisis proved to be the springboard for leaving everything behind and following her true passion once and for all: FASHION.
The classical Greek philosopher Socrates once said, ''The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.'' And that’s exactly what Sophie Deloudi has managed to accomplish in her debut swimwear collection for Summer 2014. Mirroring her principles on design and fashion, the collection focuses on high quality pieces which are all about clean fluid shapes, impeccable cuts, flawless finishes and strong, discrete femininity.
So, even if you don’t happen to be one of those women who love swimming as God intended, dive into the sea this summer wearing swimwear made out of pure passion conceived and designed by a true design aficionado who has officially followed her dreams!
