Project: Spirito – Martini Location: Brussels, Belgium Designer: Puresang team Client: Franseco Ravo / entrepeneur Completiondate: December 2009
We at Yatzer have always been fond of radical interior re-designing, especially when the space at which we are looking at previously operated as a church. Spirito – Martini is a former Anglican Church in Rue de Stassart, Brussels, Belgium, which was bought by Francesco Ravo who truly wished to give it a new use. Ravo did not hesitate for a second to transform this historical monument into a classy hospitality project with the assistance of PURESANGDesignStudio.
With almost half a year of operation, Spirito – Martini has managed to become the new cult venue of Brussels! This is mainly due to the development of the concept, where PURESANG has created an elegant environment where modern glamour meets gothic extravaganza. The space includes three bars with five different lounges and a private room for the guests to please their taste buds. Guests “should be able to enjoy the luxurious champagnes, divine liqueurs or a delicious Martini on the heavenly beats of a live band or DJ”.
PURESANG has maintained various architectural elements which set the standards of the gothic extravaganza from the former Anglican Church; the arches, the high ceilings, the extravagant chandeliers all characteristics of this glamorous extravaganza. Sublime décor where crystals, gildings and material assortments set the tone for a modern glamour interior. Victorian like furniture upholstered in velouté fabric and leather create a luxurious setting. With the decorative technique of gilding PURESANG has applied metallic gold leaf on wood, stone and metal surfaces. Special attention has been paid in the Corinthian rhythm columns which run along the church, where the “fruit-baskets” have been gilded and perfectly match with the black marble columns.
Tinted glass balustrades and mirrors set a mysterious and divine sentiment which is enhanced through the right atmospherical lighting. Special attention has been given to the interior illumination of the space where RGB lighting creates a unique atmosphere. Digital printing and unique wall paper with a Victorian flare has been used to dress-up various surfaces throughout the interiors. Unique design items with a modern pinch set the modern day feeling in this “eternally spiritual” space.
In the heart of the city of Brussels, Spirito - Martino will travel you to eternally spiritual worlds were good interior design always has an architectural concept for its new setting.
About PURESANG// Will Erens, the original founder of the Creneau design network, started a new creative group in May 2003 called Puresang. The head office is situated in Antwerp, and there’s a sister office in Barcelona. Puresang went into business with one thing in mind: to create beautiful, inspirational retail projects and help brands evolve their personalities. They call themselves the ‘tactile story tellers’: they design stories that everybody can ‘feel’, by giving new life to a product. Puresang has created great designs for bars, restaurants, shops and hotels but also stands for fairs and fantastic graphic work for products.
