London-based experimental designer, Marlene Huissoud, was born in France. After graduating with a BA in Textile Design from the National School of Design & Fine Art in Lyon in 2011, she received an MA in Material Futures from London's Central Saint Martins' School of Art and Design in 2014. Thanks to a commission upon graduation, she then began her own design studio, Marlene Huissoud Studio.

Marlene's work is often inspired from a family occupation: her father became a beekeeper at the age of eighteen and currently maintains six hundred bee hives in the French Alps. This is where Marlene remembers spending a lot of time as a child. From Insects, her first collection which she began developing while still at CSM, explores the manipulation of textures and patterns created from insects--from the honeybee to the silkworm.

Marlene has received a great number of accolades for her innovative work, such as the being selected to represent the future of British Design "One to Watch" from Design Council and the Make me! Winner at Lodz Design Festival in 2015. Her work as been exhibited worldwide at the Gallery Bensimon in Paris, the Design Museum Barcelona and at Design Miami Basel among others.
